Disclaimer: Currently in re-accreditation
The current pandemic exposes the relevancy of sustainable social protection systems for everyone. Social Protection means protecting our most vulnerable members of society, adapting our social systems to crisis and eradicating poverty worldwide. Seeing the benefits, we have proactively developed an interdisciplinary master’s programme, which will provide you with the tools to analyze, design and manage social protection systems. The mix of face-to-face and online classes gives students the opportunity to build an international network.
Upon successful completion of the program, graduates receive the academic degree "Master of Science".
Please note, that we have re-arranged the curriclum and will change the examination regulation accordingly. These changes concern students starting in the winter term 2022/2023. You will be informed by the change upon successful re-accreditation.
SHORT COURSE DISABILITY
From July 13 to September 30, 2022, we offer a course on disability-inclusive social protection in collaboration with UNICEF. You can apply for the short course here until June 25, 2022.
HANDBOOK ON SOCIAL PROTECTION SYSTEMS
Our programme head Prof. Dr. Esther Schüring and Markus Loewe, Reserach Team Leader at the German Development Institue recently published the Handbook on Social Protection Systems which provides readers with a comprehensive and globally relevant overview of the instruments, actors and design features of social protection systems, as well as their application and impacts in practice. It is the first book that centres around system building globally, a theme that has gained political importance yet has received relatively little attention in academia.
The multimedia version of the handbook allows for an easy read through highlights and key facts in addition to the content of the print version. Moreover, quizzes and discussion questions for each chapter serve to test your knowledge. The featured videos and podcasts with renowned experts offer insights to practice and topical discussions.
There is a DAAD scholarship available for the winter semester 2023/2024. The application portal will be open from June 1 to July 31, 2022 here.
